We got very brave and took the girls and Henry (the dog) camping at Turquoise Lake over the 4th of July weekend. It was an adventure. Lesson learned: Leave Henry at home for the next camping trip! :)

Andy's been wanting to take Zoie camping all summer, but the opportunity never presented itself. Soooo the other night the two of them camped out in our backyard. We even had smores! Zoie thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Eating fresh picked berries from Berry Patch Farms. Zoie ate so many berries at the farm, it's amazing she didn't turn into one. Oh and she also got bit by a pig...but that's a whole other story.

We took Zoie to the Splash water park in August. Her favorite part was the big waterslide that she wanted to go down repeatedly with Andy....and they did.

I had a get away to Austin, TX in August for my wonderful friend Amber's bachelorette weekend. It was a great time with my best friends. Spending time with these girls is always good for the soul.

Florida Vacation

This post isn't about some fish that's been sitting in our frig for a while. It's about a concert we went to at the Botanic Gardens. We love the group Leftover Salmon (including Zoie). They are a really funky group that plays bluegrass, rock, country, blues, jazz, and Cajun/Zydeco. Even with the rain, the show was great. Zoie had a blast!

Our little monkey was jumping on the couch and guess what? She fell off and fractured her arm.....OUCH! It slowed her down for about a day, and now she is trying to climb and jump around as if nothing happened. It definitely bothers us more than her. I think we have a firecracker on our hands! I'd totally climb up on this table and jump off if Mom wasn't watching me ;)

The weather has been great lately, and we went on a hike in Boulder last weekend. It was great to get out. It was Henry's first hike....and it really tired him out. Zoie had a blast too.

Andy recently took Zoie to the St Patty's day parade downtown with her Uncle Terry and Seana. Unfortunately I couldn't go....had to work the night before. Zoie wore her hand-knitted Irish sweater (complements of a friend of Andy's parents) and her kilt (which my sister and I wore when we were little....so it is over 35 years old!!). Zoie had a great day!

Andy remodelled our bathroom. It was definitely in need of a makeover. He did an awesome job! He has become quite the handyman. A little late with the blog update....but December is always such a busy month. We had a great Christmas here in Denver. Yaya and Honey came to visit us. Zoie really loved having them here, and we were very sad to see them go. Being so far away from family really seems so unfair (well that's a whole other diary entry all together...back to the Christmas post). Here are some of our Christmas pictures. Meema (Grandma) came to visit us in Denver last week. Aside from the fact that we got her sick with bronchitis and sinusitis, we had a nice time together. Here are a few pictures.

Ice Cream and Blackberries

This is NO joke....This is a picture of the ice cream man that comes to our neighborhood. To top it off, can anyone guess the music that plays from his van??? Christmas carols!!! It's true...I couldn't make this up. Also if you would like to order medical supplies, it seems that you can. The info is on the side of the van. Can you say CREEPY? We gotta get out of this neighborhood.

Zoie on her Blackberry

There was no coaxing in the picture (almost). We were having some blackberries after dinner the other night. I don't know why Zoie did this, but oh yes, she picked up the "blackberry" and pretended it was a phone. Andy said, "Look, she's talking on her Blackberry!" We immediately got the camera, asked her to do it again, and she did. You saw it here first, the toddler version of the Blackberry. Give her a call or send her a text sometime :).

Back from Telluride

Being that the date of our last posting is June 16th, one could conclude the following:

1) We were eaten by bears, mountain lions, or some other carnivorous creature.

2) We liked Telluride so much we decided to stay.

3) We decided to become bluegrass festival groupies.

4) We have been busy.

If you concluded choice 3, then you are correct. We have in fact joined the bluegrass brigade, and will be perpetually touring around the country in search of the best blugrass possible until a date yet to be determined. We will do our best to update the blog when we can, but only when we can reach an internet cafe.

OK... I'll stop dreaming... choice 4 is actually correct.

Zoie and I were thinking of things to do this afternoon while Erin rested up between night shifts at the hospital. We decided to go out on a lunch date to Chuck E Cheese, which totally rocked. Zoie got to ride in a car with Chuck and on a ferris wheel. We won enough tickets to get her a bunch of six baloons, to which she is now fondly attached. Here is a picture of couple of our momentos from our date...

Zoie is going to be flying to Texas to see her Yaya this coming weekend. With all of the strict regulations sanctioned by the TSA, we thought it best that we got an official identification card made in case they gave her any trouble at the gate.

Since we were already at the ID station, I had one made for myself too, just in case I should ever need anything beyond my passport and driver's license.

Above is a picture of me and Zoie, sketched by Chuck himself. Its totally legit. And just to clear up any doubt for possible skeptics, Chuck signed and dated the sketch himself. Let me tell you, Chuck is a pretty talented artiste!!

Family, Boulder, and Bar-B-Q

Hello everyone,
We had family (Mom, Richard, Ash, Scott, and Ian) in town recently, and it was a great time. We went up to Boulder to check out Boulder Falls and Pearl St Mall. The Falls were beautiful. As usual the Pearl St Mall was fun and interesting. If you have never gone there and seen the Zip Code Man...you really should. Any guy who knows that 70633 is DeQuincy, LA (and isn't from there) is pretty amazing in my book. Anyway, here are pictures of the weekend. Enjoy!

Our Visit to the Bing Hamptons

A few weeks ago (sorry for the slow update) we all went back to Binghamton to see Grandma and Grandpa. While we were there we were able to see a TON of people that we had not seen in far too long. The list is too long to mention everyone, but we are very appreciative to all of the people who were able to make it to see us. Some people drove quite a long way! Here are some pictures from our visit.

Hello everyone,
Zoie's become really intrigued with her shoes, socks, and my purse these days. If she isn't wearing her shoes, she often carries them around the house saying "shoes, shoes". She's also learned how to say socks.....so she loves to take them off and say "socks"....nevermind that it's super cold and snowy out these days....if she doesn't have her shoes on, then the socks are coming off. Oh and she really likes my purse. It's quite big for her, but she loves to try to wear it. So, here are some of the pics lately :). -Erin

The infamous Tupperware Burglar strikes again! Recently, our tupperware has been disappearing from the cabinet and turning up in the least likely of places. This has been a huge mystery of late. We hired the Hardy Boys, and they provided us with these photos of the culprit... caught RED HANDED!

Zoie got her first pair of walking boots last month. They gave her a cute "Nordy" stuffed animal and took her picture. The only problem was that they didn't have the boots in her size. So, of course, there's a picture of her boots below also :).

When we got back from Mexico (see further below for those pictures), Grandma and Grandpa were due out the next day. Luckily, the snow waited until Christmas to fall, so there were no issues with them making it out to see us. We had such a fabulous time! The weather forecasters were calling for a dusting of snow on Christmas. It was a very heavy dusting, and for this we were greatful! Here we are playing in the snow. Grandma left her snowsuit at home, so she was inside tending to the fire.

Well we made it through this past year. Andy graduated from nursing school on Zoie's birthday. To celebrate we went to Mexico for some rest and relaxation. We had such a great time. Here are some pictures.

Trip to Glenwood Springs

We took a family trip to Glenwood Springs last week. It was a much needed break from our busy lives. We had such a good time and we wished we could've stayed a week longer. We went to the hot springs and went on a 13 mile bike ride. Zoie had a blast....especially in the hot springs. She laughed and laughed....splashed around....did a lot of people watching....and even had a bite of ice cream from Daddy when Mommy wasn't looking :o. Hi! Since Mommy and Daddy have been updating the blog so far, I thought I should take a turn too. Big news....I am 6 months old today! I celebrated by going to the Dr for my check-up. I am a healthy growing girl......15 lbs 14 oz and 27 inches long. The Dr's appointment ended badly though. I got three shots in my legs. I was pretty upset about it. In fact, I think I need some more Tylenol right now.

Anyway....I've been doing fun things lately. I've started rolling around on the floor. I've started sitting up, but I don't like it very much just yet. I have my very own highchair, and I've been eating oatmeal cereal, peas, carrots, and just tonight I had sweet potatoes. So far, I think it's all pretty yummy. I got a swimming pool just my size for the backyard. I went on a hike with Mommy and Daddy....that was really fun.....I saw lots of pretty flowers.

I'm doing new things all of the time. So check back and see what I am up to.

Hi everyone!

So much has gone on since the last post. Zoie is growing and changing so fast. She rolled over for the first time.....ate rice cereal for the first time....went on her first airplane ride.....went to her first wedding.....had her first crawfish boil.....and found out that she loves her jumperoo.

We went to Louisiana for my aunt's wedding then made our way over to Houston and Austin to see friends and family. It was a GREAT trip. Zoie did great on the plane ride....thank God. We were wondering how it was going to go and she did wonderfully. On the other hand.....we've found out just how much Zoie hates sitting in her car seat. After touring around Austin for several hours then making the trek back to Houston, Zoie reached her car seat limit and had a melt down. Andy's ears are still ringing :). Poor little Zoie (and Andy). But all in all, Zoie is a good traveller, and we can't wait to take another trip with her.

She loved meeting all of the family at my Aunt Jeanette's wedding. There were people there that I hadn't seen in 10 years, so it was great to catch up with everyone. We also spent time out at Zoie's Pop's house and got to see Kristin and her daughter (a childhood friend of mine). It was a good trip to DeQuincy.

Then we went to Houston to Zoie's Yaya and Honey's house. Zoie loved getting spoiled and pampered....as so did Andy and I. Zoie also rolled over for the first time when we were there...yay Zoie!!! We had a crawfish boil.......good times! It was wonderful to see my mom and sister and family. We miss them already.

We also went to Austin to tour around and visit Marissa and Ashley, my friends from college. Marissa has a son named Luke that is just a few months older than Zoie. It was fun to see them interact. Andy and I just LOVE Austin.....

Now back to our busy lives. Andy starts back to school on Monday. Let the craziness begin (or should I say continue). Here are some pictures from our trip. There are a couple more posts after this one of more pictures. Thanks for checking out our blog.

Yesterday I took a break from school and Erin, Zoie and I went to Boulder to walk on the Pearl Street Mall. One Year of Craziness... coming up!

Howdy All!

Nursing school began on January 8th and will last until December when I will graduate with a BSN. Its an accelerated program at Regis University, and when they say accelerated, they mean it. This is my reason for being so slow to update this site with new pictures of little Zoie.

So many people have sent us thoughtful and beautiful gifts and we are very greatful for all of them!

Mom was out visiting last week. We were blessed to have her here for 8 days to meet her new grand-daughter.

Anyway, below are some more recent pictures of Zoie.

With school being so busy, updates to the blog will occur monthly, but I think that will be an appropriate pace for everyone to be able to see Zoie's development.

Updates on house and baby

Hi! It's been a while since we've posted. We've been quite busy with getting the basement back into order after it flooded (and by we I mean Andy...smile). Above are before and after pictures of the basement. Andy worked so hard on it. I'm really proud of him. We've also been trying to do other home repairs before the baby arrives. Today Andy finished painting the baby's room. It's a neutral beige color, which will go well with our colors for the baby room....pink and chocolate brown. We've shifted into high gear with everything around the house, because our baby's due date has been moved up. She should be here in about 7 weeks. I'm loving my pregnancy belly and feeling her move. It's amazing! We are so excited for her arrival...

Do not flood your finished basement

For anyone who has considered flooding their finished basement with water, I do not recommend it. In fact, you should make all necessary changes to your houses to ensure that your basement never floods, especially if it is finished.

Yes... our basement flooded this past weekend. Crazy stuff! I spent most of the day in a state of stressed out disbelief, or dealing with the plumber who installed the faulty sump pump, or the disaster recovery service, or my insurance company. I firmly believe that the pump was at fault and not the installation. Regardless, I intend to ensure that the plumber pays for the restoration and thay can worry about dealing with the pump manufacturer.

Our basement is now like a wind tunnel. I counted 12 fans and three de-humidifiers down there! They sprayed this antimicrobial stuff that made our whole house smell like the vetrinarians office. This ensures that we do not have any unwanted mold or fungi growing down there. (Yes... I made sure it was safe for Erin and Baby P.) It will be a while before we are living back down there again... grrr

Sorry no new pictures, just a bit tied up at the moment!

ps... I know that our flooding is nothing compared to the recent flooding in the northeast, or even worse in New Orleans. I had just a taste of what you experienced, and I feel lucky to still have my house!
